**I've had several customers ask if this would fit regular vacuums, I checked with the manufacturer and this is the response I received: Yes, they work with regular vacuums as well but if there is a large amount of hair then the bag will fill more quickly then on a central vacuum.
The outer measurement of the hose is 1-3/8" which is the measurement you would need to see if it would fit into your vacuum. I was able to fit it in my parents upright vacuum, it has a hose attachment on the back, it fit loosely when joined directly to the hose, it fit best when joined to a plastic tube extension used for additional tools, it allowed for a snugger fit.
Duke, my border collie, who is terrified of ceiling fans (yes, it's true) allows me to use this on him. It's awesome as I'm allergic to animal hair and my dad had been brushing everyone for me because it's a disaster for me to try and do it. I can actually handle it now as everything goes right up the hose! The furniture utencil is really awesome and makes it so simply to get fur off of upholstery.

Shed Eliminator

Fourth Piece (The Hose!)
This 15 foot PetVac hose is designed to couple onto your standard central vacuum hose. Please use this hose ONLY when it is connected to a longer hose. It also features an airflow bleeder valve that makes combing and vacuuming your pet easier. Plug this hose into your central vacuum hose and open the bleed valve. Then span the hose out 15 feet away from the sound of the airflow. Most animals won't even know a vacuum is running, because most of the sound is at the bleeder valve. For extra airflow release, open the bleeder valve on your central vacuum hose, if available.The hose will not fit some Electrolux or Hoover central vacuum hoses. Purchase a Basic Hose to use the kit, it fits these systems.
Safe
The Shed Eliminator blade may look sharp, but it is not. Its shape and functionality are very safe and are the standard amongst common professional de-shedding combs. Shed Eliminator comes with a medium sized comb blade. Small and large sized replacement blades are available separately.

I am so glad that I found this kit. I use it on my home upright vacuum and it is great. I use my wand attachment on my vacuum and attach this hose onto it.
I not only use it on my dogs - 2 Shelties - but also on my stairs.
My Shelties loves it, they just laid down and thought that they were getting a massage. I had to change the bag during the first massage on both of them, but when I used it the second time there was not as much hair to be removed, so I did not have to change the bag until I had done both of them.
I then took the hose, and attached my vacuum floor attachment, and did my whole stair case, without having to lift my vacuum while trying to balance it on a stair while I went up.
I am so glad that you were so patient with me during the original purchase to make me feel at ease with purchasing and making sure that it would fit on my vacuum.
Now maybe the house will be hair free for more than a couple of hours. And the whole cleaning experience is just so much more enjoyable. And keeping my dogs thinking that they are being spoiled is great also.
