Dog shown wearing Suzie Q
Note: This collar should not be left on an unattended or unleashed dog.
A Combo Collar, sometimes referred to as a martingale collar is a dual-action collar for walking and training and the only design for greyhounds and similar dogs that back out of regular collars. The Lupine Combo Collar differs from other Martingale-style collars because it is made with an additional sewn-in D-ring so it can be used either as a limited-slip choker or as a regular flat collar.
The Lupine combo/martingale training collars must slip over the dogs head, there is no buckle clasps on these collars. To fit these correctly to your dog the largest measurement must be big enough to go over your dogs head, and when readjusted your dog's neck should fall somwhere in between the two measurements so it will correctly.
For example, if your dogs neck is 17", and the largest part of it's head is 21", you'd need to chose a 15-22" combo/martingale training collar which is available in the 1" wide current patterns, retired patterns and solids. It will be big enough to slip over their head, and yet small enough to keep them secure while walking.
Lupine doesn't make martingales in 1/2" wide because many of the dogs which wear 1/2" wide items have very petite necks and shouldn't have any pressure placed against their trachia. The better choice with a smaller dog would be a roman harness. If you have any questions please email me at petexpectations@gmail.com.
